Job Summary
Heli America is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support product research, competitive analysis, and product improvement initiatives. This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical exposure to the material handling equipment industry and collaborate with experienced R&D professionals on product design, engineering evaluation, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate has a strong interest in mechanical systems, product development, and understanding how engineering concepts are applied in a commercial business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on industry trends, market applications, and competing material handling products.
- Collect, organize, and analyze product specifications, features, configurations, performance data, and technical information.
- Prepare product comparison reports, technical summaries, presentations, and benchmarking analyses.
- Collaborate with senior R&D engineers to learn product design principles, engineering processes, and product development practices.
- Participate in product reviews and discussions related to design optimization, product quality, performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Assist in evaluating customer, dealer, sales, and service feedback to identify potential product improvement opportunities.
- Support product inspections, testing, data collection, technical documentation, and validation activities as assigned.
- Coordinate with R&D, product management, sales, service, and other internal teams on product-related projects.
- Maintain accurate project records and handle confidential technical information professionally.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical design, engineering principles, manufacturing processes, or product development.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar programs is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize technical information clearly.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional and international teams.
- Interest in forklifts, industrial vehicles, heavy equipment, automotive products, or material handling equipment is preferred.
- Bilingual English and Chinese communication skills are a plus but not required.
