Position: HR Business Partner
Salary: $78,500–$98,000 annually
Location: Stockton, CA
Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 7:00 AM–4:30 PM, Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to serve as a strategic partner to leadership while supporting employees across a wide range of Human Resources functions. This role provides advanced operational support, employee relations guidance, compliance oversight, and HR leadership in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor who can navigate complex situations with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment while helping foster a positive workplace culture.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with HR leadership to provide strategic and operational Human Resources support across the organization.
- Coach and advise managers on employee performance, development, engagement, and workplace best practices.
- Lead and support employee engagement initiatives, programs, and events.
- Serve as the primary resource for complex employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, corrective actions, and policy interpretation.
- Support union-related activities and ensure consistent application of collective bargaining agreements and labor practices.
- Manage escalated leave of absence requests, ADA accommodations, and other compliance-related matters in accordance with California employment laws.
- Ensure consistent interpretation and application of company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
- Lead cross-functional HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance HR operations and organizational effectiveness.
- Analyze HR metrics and trends to provide recommendations and support strategic decision-making.
- Maintain employee records and HRIS data while serving as a resource for employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, attendance, time off, and HR policies.
- Support compliance efforts by monitoring federal, state, and local employment regulations, assisting with audits, reporting, and policy updates.
- Collaborate with managers and employees to resolve workplace concerns with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
- Perform additional Human Resources responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience in an HR Business Partner or similar role required.
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- Experience coaching leaders and employees through complex employee relations matters.
- Strong knowledge of California employment law, labor relations, HR compliance, and best practices.
- Experience supporting union environments and collective bargaining agreements is highly desirable.
- Thorough understanding and hands-on application of HR principles, employment practices, and compliance standards.
- Strong project management, organizational, analytical, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with HRIS systems and maintaining confidential employee records.
