What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Internship position at Heaven Hill Brands?
This is a paid internship that is part of Heaven Hill's Summer Internship Program (running May-August). The role is based at our Bardstown Bottling Facility.
As part of the Heaven Hill Summer Internship Program, you will support organizational strategic goals through hands-on project work and high-impact assignments. Our program is designed to provide meaningful experience, professional development, cross-functional exposure, networking opportunities, facility tours, and intern engagement events throughout the summer.
What the Role Is
The Supply Chain & Logistics Internship provides practical experience across transportation management, warehousing, inventory control, and digital process transformation. This role is ideal for students interested in supply chain analytics, logistics operations, or systems integration.
You will play an active role in supporting the team with data-driven projects, daily logistics execution, and integration work related to the Transportation Management System (TMS). This includes learning how freight flows through the network, how logistics data is managed, and how system improvements can reduce cost and enhance operational efficiency.
How You Will Spend Your Time?
- TMS Integration & Digital Transformation
- Support the onboarding, testing, and refinement of TMS functionality to improve freight visibility, automation, and reporting.
- Assist in mapping logistics workflows to new TMS processes and documenting standard operating procedures.
- Help validate data migration, shipment accuracy, and carrier connectivity within the TMS environment.
- Build or update dashboards and reports that track transportation KPIs such as on-time delivery, service failures, and freight spend.
Transportation Management Support
- Assist with daily inbound/outbound shipment coordination.
- Analyze carrier performance metrics and support bid analysis for transportation sourcing activities.
- Reconcile freight invoices, identify discrepancies, and support cost-savings initiatives.
Warehouse & Inventory Project Work
- Support cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and root-cause analysis related to discrepancies.
- Assist with warehouse layout projects, WMS utilization improvements, and documentation updates.
- Observe daily receiving, storage, picking, and shipping processes to understand warehouse operations.
Cross-Functional Logistics Exposure
- Collaborate with procurement, production, AP, and third-party logistics providers to understand how logistics decisions impact the broader supply chain.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and accuracy.
Professional Development
- Prepare and present findings and recommendations to internal teams throughout the internship.
- Deliver a final presentation to the Executive Leadership Team summarizing your project work and key learnings.
- Participate in developmental workshops, networking opportunities, and cross-functional exposure events.
