We're looking for an experienced Cybersecurity Coordinator to help improve cybersecurity programs across local and state government. If you enjoy working with people, coordinating large initiatives, and helping organizations strengthen their security posture, this could be a great fit.
This is a strategic, relationship-focused role where you'll partner with government agencies, election officials, vendors, and community organizations to drive cybersecurity awareness, education, and best practices across the state.
What You'll Do
- Lead statewide cybersecurity outreach and education initiatives.
- Coordinate vendors delivering cybersecurity training and awareness programs.
- Build strong relationships with local governments, state agencies, election officials, and other key stakeholders.
- Create and support cybersecurity education and outreach materials.
- Identify cybersecurity gaps and recommend practical solutions to improve security programs.
- Promote cybersecurity best practices and help organizations improve their overall security maturity.
- Support election security initiatives and collaborate with officials to help protect critical election infrastructure.
- Assist with strategic planning and coordinate projects involving multiple partners.
- Track project progress, manage priorities, and work independently to keep initiatives moving forward.
What We're Looking For
- 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, strategic planning, program management, or large-scale project coordination.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, and procurement activities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.
- Experience developing training or educational materials is a plus.
- Knowledge of election security, critical infrastructure, or public-sector cybersecurity is highly preferred.
Bonus Points
- Experience working with federal grants or government-funded programs.
- Cybersecurity or project management certifications.
- Previous experience working with state or local government organizations.
Work Environment
This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel throughout Maine and approximately quarterly in-person meetings. Candidates should be comfortable traveling as needed to meet with stakeholders and support statewide cybersecurity initiatives. Local candidates are preferred, but candidates within approximately three hours of Augusta, ME will also be considered.
