Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for outpatient surgical and endoscopy cases, including preoperative assessment and postoperative PACU Phase II care
- Monitor patient status, including vitals, and assist with moderate sedation as credentialed; support rapid patient turnover
- Assist with preoperative preparation, anesthesia handoffs, intraprocedural support, and PACU Phase II recovery; maintain sterile technique and infection control
- Collaborate with the surgical team, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to ensure safe, efficient patient flow and timely discharge planning
- Document care in the electronic medical record; deliver patient and family education and discharge instructions
- Adapt to a fast-paced outpatient environment with open heart preop and total joint case considerations as available
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in outpatient surgery, endoscopy, or perioperative settings
- Comfortable with preoperative and PACU Phase II workflows; open heart preop and total joint experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient/perioperative environment; willing to travel and adapt to a 4x10-hour shift schedule
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with current California RN licensure
