Responsibilities
- Implement components of patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist; collect data related to treatments and outcomes.
- Assist in the treatment of patients across all ages, including guiding stretching and therapeutic exercises and balance training.
- Read and follow instructions from the Physical Therapist; adjust care as necessary in collaboration with the PT.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families to identify best at-home techniques and approaches to support ongoing care.
- Maintain a clean, organized therapy area; transport or move patients to and from therapy as needed; handle basic administrative tasks such as scheduling and documentation.
- Document patient responses to treatment and contribute to progress notes; participate in care planning discussions with the PT.
Requirements
- Active PTA license for Missouri (or a valid compact license with eligibility for Missouri practice) at time of submission.
- CPR certification; BLS certification is required.
- Minimum 1 year of PTA experience (travel assignment experience preferred); LTC or SNF experience required.
- Ability to work 8-hour day shifts in a travel assignment; no weekend shifts required.
- Must be able to work in a long-term care / skilled nursing setting and follow established infection control and safety procedures.
