Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-anesthesia care phases
• Assist surgeons and function as scrub and circulating nurse; maintain sterile technique and manage operative instrumentation
• Monitor patient status, administer medications per protocol, and document care accurately
• Ensure patient safety; assist with patient transfers and use of lifts when moving patients
• Collaborate with the OR team; demonstrate leadership when needed and may assume charge nurse duties
• Possess or develop skills in lethal dysrhythmia interpretation and respond to intraoperative emergencies
  
  

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current New York State RN license or eligible
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum one year medical/surgical experience preferred; OR experience strongly preferred
• Ability to function effectively in a high-stress environment; strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of typical OR/ASU equipment and instrumentation; willingness to participate in on-call coverage with a 30-minute response time
