Food Service DirectorMAJOR PURPOSE: Responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Department in accordance with current applicable Federal and State Guidelines and Regulations, established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Dietitian and/or Administrator to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times.TITLE OF SUPERVISOR: AdministratorTITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUBORDINATES: Dietary Supervisor, Dietary Aides, Cooks, Utility Aides, and Dishwashers. Consults with dietician as needed.PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:1. Participates in the development of Dietary Policies and Procedures.2. Orders food, supplies and equipment.3. Participates in resident care management and attends resident and family care conferences.4. Responsible for receipt, storage, preparation, and service of all food.5. Assists with menu planning.6. Maintains a safe and sanitary kitchen area and equipment in compliance with applicable standards.7. Oversees meal service and dining room delivery of meals to residents.8. Documents disciplinary concerns for dietary employees including reprimands or oral/written warnings.9. Hires, orients and supervises dietary employees.10. Evaluates dietary employees for continued employment.11. Develops and coordinates the scheduling of work hours, personnel and work assignments.12. Meets with residents, their families, medical staff, other departments and/or administrator as needed.EXPECTATIONS:1. Presents a neat and professional demeanor.2. Must be punctual.3. Works with a minimum of supervision.4. Discusses any problems, needs or concerns which arise with the Administrator.5.
