What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Representative - Part-time position at Healthcare Employees Federal Credit Union (HEFCU)?
Objective: Assists in managingand maintaining Financial Operations/Accounting, Risk, Audits, and Compliance.
Equipment Used to Perform Essential Functions: Computer, telephone, calculator.
Essential Job Functions:
- Process daily accounting transactions; including, general ledger entries, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Prepare and review all bank reconciliations daily, resolving account discrepancies and variances
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with GAAP, NCUA regulations, and credit union policies
- Assists with Accounts Payable functions
- Supports month-end, and year-end closing activities
- Works with external auditors to prepare and provide required documentation
- Performs monthly audits of new loans and new membership accounts
- Provides internal support and responds to accounting related inquiries
- Assists in the assessment and evaluation of financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts
- Assists in the preparation, maintenance, and presentation of periodic financial performance reports
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 4-years relevant experience within a financial institution accounting department. Must demonstrate organization skills, critical thinking, knowledge of GAAP/CECL, have excellent communication, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills. Experience with internal controls, audit, and financials.
