Headfarmer is partnering with a rapidly growing, publicly traded company with less than 200 employees seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Manager with Paycor experience to lead payroll and benefits administration for a multi-state workforce. This is a newly created role driven by growth and increased operational complexity, offering the opportunity to build, improve, and own critical processes in a highly visible environment.

What You’ll Do
- Manage bi-monthly payroll for a growing workforce across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Process off-cycle payrolls, including bonuses, equity vesting events, adjustments, and terminations
- Administer and continuously improve payroll controls, including SOX-related documentation and audit readiness
- Partner with Finance on reconciliations, reporting, and payroll-related audit requests
- Maintain payroll and employee data integrity within the HRIS
- Oversee benefits administration, including: Open enrollment, 401(k) administration and testing, Vendor management, Employee benefits support and inquiries
- Administer leave programs such as FMLA, disability, parental leave, and time-off policies
- Support and administer equity compensation programs, including payroll-related vesting and reporting
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and stronger internal controls
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits questions across the organization
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field
- 7 years of combined payroll and benefits experience
- Proven experience with: Multi-state payroll, Equity and bonus payroll processing (required), Benefits administration and vendor coordination, Payroll compliance and internal controls
- Hands-on experience with Paycor is required
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with detailed reconciliations
- Experience in a public company, financial services, or SOX-regulated environment strongly preferred
- Process-oriented mindset with a track record of improving systems and workflows
- High attention to detail and discretion when handling sensitive information
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
