What are the responsibilities and job description for the Porter / Janitor position at HBM Facilities & Operations Management?
HBM Facilities & Operations Management is looking for a reliable and hardworking Temporary Porter / Janitor for a 60-day assignment, with the possibility of becoming a regular full-time position based on performance and operational needs.
This position supports the daily upkeep and appearance of a school and church campus. The ideal candidate will have janitorial and/or day porter experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and customer service.
The typical schedule will be Sunday to Thursday 7am to 330pm. You must be flexible to be able to change your schedule when needed for events.

Responsibilities
- Perform daily janitorial cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, kitchens, and meeting spaces
- Restock restroom and cleaning supplies as needed
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect campus facilities
- Support day porter duties, including responding to spills, trash removal, and maintaining high-traffic areas throughout the day
- Assist with event setup and breakdown as needed
- Maintain outdoor areas by picking up debris, light sweeping/blowing, and monitoring campus cleanliness
- Report maintenance, safety, or cleanliness concerns to management
- Follow safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Provide professional and courteous communication with staff, students, church members, and visitors
Requirements
- Previous janitorial, custodial, or day porter experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and stay on task
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to lift, push, and carry cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical work throughout the shift
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Background (livescan) check is be required due to school campus environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a school, church, or similar community environment
- Experience with floor care equipment, cleaning machines, or event support
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
