Janitor / Grounds

We are seeking two reliable and experienced Janitorial Team Members to support operations at an independent private school. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining cleanliness across campus, with occasional support for light grounds work such as weeding, trimming, and blowing. Prior janitorial experience is required; grounds experience is not necessary, but candidates must be willing to learn and assist as needed.

Se requiere experiencia previa en labores de limpieza; la experiencia en mantenimiento de jardines no es indispensable, pero los candidatos deben estar dispuestos a aprender y prestar asistencia según sea necesario.

Job Requirements

• Prior janitorial or custodial experience required, preferably in a school, campus, or similar environment
• Ability to perform a full range of cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting
• Experience cleaning and maintaining restrooms, kitchens, classrooms, offices, gyms, and other common areas
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, chemical use, and safety procedures (including use of PPE)
• Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail in a high-traffic environment
• Willingness to support light grounds duties, including weeding, trimming, and blowing outdoor areas
• Ability to operate standard janitorial equipment (vacuums, floor machines, blowers, etc.)
• Strong time management skills and ability to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow schedules and assigned task lists
• Support with event set-ups and take-downs (chairs, tables, etc.)
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods
• Must be able to work collaboratively with team members and respond to direction from supervisors
• Strong communication skills and a professional, respectful demeanor when working in a school environment

Other requirements:

• Must be able to pass a federal background check applicable to working on a school campus
• Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as needed, including summer projects like deep cleaning, power washing, carpet and floor care, and painting.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to provide required employment eligibility documentation
