Position Summary
TPT is seeking an experienced Production Planner to organize production according to customer demand and production flow, while ensuring that all safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQDC) goals are achieved. The Production Planner will have direct responsibility for production order planning and organizing, and routine production order maintenance. The Production Planner will communicate daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and requirements to the manufacturing and materials teams and follow-up on all actions through completion. The Production Planner reports to the department manager and supports the company strategic plan, including the company’s missions, vision and values.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow safety policies, ensure safety and 5S findings are reported in a timely fashion, and set a good example for safety for the site.
- Interface and coordinate with the integrated product team (IPT – Operations, Materials, Quality and Engineering) to schedule production activities to ensure > 95% on-time delivery and achieve monthly sales goals. The Production Planner shall provide timely status of work orders, sales orders, and problem identification and resolution.
- Navigate through the ERP system to create and maintain work orders. The Production Planner shall own production scheduling/orders from start to finish – from creating the work order after the contract review has been performed, maintaining the work order throughout the production lifecycle, and ensuring that the work order has been closed out once the product is shipped.
- Perform operational planning and production scheduling tasks using a prescribed schedule and standard work. The Production Planner shall also be able to anticipate production and material needs, including tools to support all production operations (manufacturing, inspection, and assembly).
- Maintain the ERP system parameters and integrity to accurately drive material requirements production schedules and execute all processes/operations per customer and internal requirements and procedures.
- Participate as a key member of the daily production team meetings to communicate day-to-day production activities, identify immediate and future bottlenecks and constraints, and work with the IPT to provide resolution to maximize capacity for each work cell.
- Review and evaluate work center loading and/or capacity analyses to provide recommendations and trends to the IPT team.
- Lead the efforts in resolving issues when products are behind schedule or at risk of being behind schedule.
- Participate in Quality Stand-Up Meetings as a key contributor that receives Quality and Engineering feedback and uses the information to create, revise and maintain all operational planning and production scheduling documentation.
- Adhere to internal and customer deadlines set forth by management, including those requiring both cross-functional team and individual contributor efforts.
- Understand and adhere to the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures to ensure product quality is maintained throughout the entirety of the process.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business, Engineering or other related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- 5 or more years of experience using an MRP or ERP system – TPT uses Microsoft Dynamics 365. The Production Planner must have a complete understanding and application of MRP/ERP principles, concepts, practices, standards, and best practices.
- At least 2 years of experience is a fast-paced manufacturing facility – aerospace and/or production machine shop experience preferred. Very strong attention to detail and accuracy is required for all efforts.
Technical Skills
- 5 or more years of experience using MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Knowledge of Excel formulas and/or VBA coding a plus. Knowledge of SQL a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication required – the Production Planner will frequently interface with members of the IPT team using various means of communication.
