Production Planner

Schedule: Full-Time / Exempt / On-Site
Rate: $70,000 to $75,000 yr DOE
Reports To: Production Planning Manager
About Santa Monica Seafood- Santa Monica Seafood, established in 1939, is the largest seafood-only distributor in the Southwestern United States. Our Rancho Dominguez facility is a state-of-the-art 120,000 sq. ft. headquarters dedicated to processing and distributing premium seafood products.
Position Summary - We are seeking a Production Planner to develop and manage production schedules for our fresh and frozen seafood lines. This role ensures efficient processing, timely order fulfillment, and alignment between inventory, labor, and customer demand, requiring the use of independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan daily and weekly production schedules
Monitor inventory levels and raw material needs
Coordinate with production and procurement teams
Track yields, waste, and operational metrics
Maintain accurate records and planning reports
Adapt to order changes, equipment downtime, and supply chain shifts.
Perform other duties as assigned by Managment
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Frequent exposure to a food production environment, including wet, cold, and humid conditions.
Ability to work in cold storage areas for extended periods with appropriate PPE.
Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety shoes, gloves.
Qualifications
3 years in production planning (food industry preferred)
Familiar with ERP systems and strong Excel skills
Organized, analytical, and proactive communicator
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Knowledge of HACCP or SQF food safety systems preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
