Job Overview
The Volunteer and Holy Cow Coordinator recruits, interviews, trains, supervises, tracks, and stewards volunteers. The V olunteer and Holy Cow Coordinator serves as a public face of the organization and communicates the mission clearly and fully, and provides direction, coordination, and consultation for volunteer functions within Pathways’ shelter programs. This role also coordinates food truck operations by organizing staff schedules, locations, and communication to support consistent and effective service delivery.
Education/Experience Requirements:
●High School Diploma is required and a bachelor's degree is preferred. Job-related experience such as working in a homeless shelter, managing volunteer programs, leading and/or managing teams
●Ability to multitask and work independently, with minimum supervision
●Ability to maintain confidentiality
●Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
●Demonstrated capability to conduct one’s self in a calm and professional demeanor when
dealing with the public and/or with difficult situations
●Ability to work with a diverse group of clients, staff, volunteers, and various community
agencies
●Ability to work a flexible work schedule—occasional evenings and some weekends required.
●Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
●Proficient in computer applications, such as Office Suite, Google Suite, and social media
●Ability to learn new software platforms like Galaxy Digital and Canva.
Responsibilities:
I. Community
A. Develop, promote, maintain, and expand cooperative and productive relationships with a wide range of volunteers and potential volunteers (Individuals, Churches, and Community Partners).
B. Host and attend recruiting events to attract qualified volunteer candidates.
C. Effectively communicate the mission and accomplishments of HPC.
D. Serve as a point of contact and information for community inquiries.
E. Publicize volunteer opportunities at HPC.
II. Volunteers
A. Serve as the point of contact for all volunteers to support their engagement at Haywood Pathways Center.
B. Onboard and train all volunteers.
C. Provide feedback and evaluations for all volunteers to help facilitate their success.
D. Develop and maintain service descriptions for all volunteer positions.
E. Be onsite and/or easily accessible to volunteers and volunteer groups.
F. Keep an accurate and up-to-date schedule of all volunteers and their shifts.
G. Develop and maintain a volunteer recognition and awards program.
H. Provide regular and scheduled follow-ups with volunteers to promote communication.
I. Evaluate volunteer programs and volunteers to ensure the highest standards of engagement.
III. Administrative
A. Responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all volunteer and potential volunteer information ensuring HPC has up-to-date and easily accessible tracking of all volunteer activities.
B. Schedule all volunteer activities.
C. Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service.
D. Maintain accurate and timely records and reports of volunteer hours and activities.
E. Promptly handle and respond to phone, email, voicemail, written, and in-person inquiries.
F. Facilitate distribution of information to volunteers and community partners.
G. Ensure communication for upcoming volunteer shifts.
H. Track volunteer hours and activities for budget and resource development utilization.
IV. Food Truck Coordinator
A. Provide direction, coordination, and communication for food truck operations to support consistent and effective service delivery.
B. Schedule food truck staff and maintain a calendar of shifts and locations
C. Coordinate food truck sites, including setup locations and timing
D. Serve as the main point of contact for staff regarding schedules and site logistics
E. Ensure staff have the necessary information for each location
F. Assist with planning and adjusting locations as needed
G. Post updates, schedules, and promotional content on social media
