Job Summary
The Operations Director serves as the chief internal leader of Haywood Pathways Center, responsible for all campus operations, staff management, and facility oversight. This role ensures daily organizational stability, operational excellence, and consistent program execution. The Operations Director acts as the primary on-site authority, shielding the Executive Director from day-to-day operational issues while maintaining alignment with HPC’s mission and strategic goals.
Education/Experience/Competency Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Organizational Leadership, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible leadership experience.
- Three or more years of progressively responsible management or operations experience, including supervision of employees and day-to-day organizational operations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and cloud-based software systems.
- Leads with integrity, accountability, and sound judgment.
- Makes timely decisions and remains calm under pressure.
- Coaches employees while holding them accountable to high standards.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with staff, partners, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
I. Chief of Operations
A. Oversee all day-to-day campus operations and facility functioning.
B. Ensure programs operate smoothly, safely, and consistently.
C. Serve as primary on-site decision-maker for all operational matters.
D. Contact and coordinate with service providers, vendors, and maintenance personnel as needed.
E. Ensure adequate inventory of supplies and operational materials.
F. Maintain a safe, orderly, and mission-aligned campus environment.
II. Staff Management & Leadership
A. Directly supervise on-campus employees and operational staff.
B. Serve as Site Supervisor for State of Franklin employee placements (currently 5 part-time employees).
C. Address staff conflicts, performance concerns, and operational issues in real time.
D. Provide coaching, accountability, and corrective action when needed.
E. Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and scheduling.
F. Act as first point of escalation for staff-related concerns before involvement of the Executive Director.
III. Human Resources Implementation
A. Oversee hiring processes, onboarding, and staff transitions at the operational level.
B. Implement performance management systems and corrective action processes.
C. Maintain personnel documentation in coordination with Executive Director.
D. Assist Directors with personnel decisions and complex employee matters.
E. Promote a culture aligned with HPC’s mission, values, and standards of conduct.
IV. Program & Compliance Oversight
A. Ensure program implementation aligns with established policies and procedures.
B. Ensure compliance with major partners and regulatory requirements (e.g., Manna Foodbank, HMIS operational standards, partner agreements).
C. Monitor campus adherence to safety and program standards.
D. Identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
V. Executive Support & Organizational Alignment
A. Serve as operational filter between campus and Executive Director.
B. Elevate strategic matters to the Executive Director while resolving routine operational issues independently.
C. Provide regular operational status updates to Executive Director.
D. Ensure campus operations align with broader organizational goals.
