Senior Estimator – Civil / Site Development
Position Overview
The Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the preparation of detailed cost estimates and competitive bids for civil and site development projects, including grading, earthwork, and utility infrastructure. The role supports preconstruction activities, project planning, and business development efforts through accurate pricing and strategic cost analysis.

Project Scope

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for site development projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation to determine scope and quantities
- Develop budgets, bids, and proposals for client submission
- Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and site infrastructure
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes and incorporate into final estimates
- Conduct site assessments to identify cost impacts and logistical considerations
- Apply value engineering techniques to optimize cost efficiency
- Maintain cost databases, production rates, and historical pricing data
- Identify risks and incorporate contingencies into estimates
- Collaborate with project management, engineering, and field teams to ensure alignment
- Support bid reviews, presentations, and contract negotiations
- Facilitate project handoff to operations teams with complete estimate documentation
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in construction estimating, preferably within site development or heavy civil
- Strong understanding of grading, earthwork, and underground utility construction
- Proven ability to estimate complex commercial, industrial, or residential projects
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and site data
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
