Your new role
You will report to the Chief Operating Officer and work closely with the estimating team. As a senior leader you will be responsible for overseeing all aspect of the estimating process within the organization, ensuring accurate cost control, and developing competitive bids. You will oversee the estimating team, develop and implement estimating strategies, and collaborate with various departments to ensure successful project bids and execution.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Oversee and manage the estimating department across all functions, including hard bids, negotiated work, and design-build opportunities.
- Assist in training, developing, and coaching the estimating team to carry out departmental and project needs.
- Participate in company business development efforts and provide feedback on potential project opportunities.
- Utilize industry-standard estimating software, including HCSS HeavyBid, BlueBeam, B2W Estimate, and related tools for cost estimation, project planning, and management.
- Lead internal estimating strategy planning sessions, bid calendar and bid reviews.
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, colleagues, and suppliers.
- Provide leadership and strategic oversight on bid day, reviewing subcontractor quotes and identifying the most competitive and qualified partners.
- Take part in leading final bid pricing decisions and submissions, with a keen focus on maintaining profitability while staying competitive.
- Offer insights on post-bid buyouts and identify areas for cost savings or value engineering.
