SummaryUnder the direction of the Emergency Services Director, develop processes related to technical responses to determine methods of implementation. Functions as the Operations assistant to the Emergency Services Director and assists the Emergency Services Director and Assistant Director in responses by Special Operations Teams. This position works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Develop measurement tools and data collection methods to assess other technical response team needs.Focuses on methods of continuously improving special operations and other technical response team performance.Assists with quality improvement activities as needed.Assists Hazardous Material response, other technical team responses, training, and evaluation of technology and equipment needs, research new techniques, assists with coordinating regional responses, assist Emergency Management with Emergency Operation Center, and maintain equipment readiness.Serves as command/safety/logistics officer for all Disaster Scenes and works as the County liaison for all other technical responses reporting to the affected Incident Commander.Coordinates efforts with and fosters positive relationships with all emergency service groups in the county and region as well as work with the local industries.Build new and maintain existing relationships with all faith- based organizations in the county.Lead coordinator for Hays County Emergency Preparedness Fair, Auction and Raffle.Attend drills, training, and meetings.Assists in development of education schedule to meet the needs of the OE S team and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).Develops and coordinates a competency-based training for the region.Functions as the program lead for Community Emergency Response Team.Develops and conducts training for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) during evenings and specific weekend training.Serves as the Certified Train the Trainer for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).Serves as the logistics lead for all Office of Emergency Services assets.Ensure all assets are current in logistics software and accounted for.Assists in the development of instructors for all emergency service groups for an all-hazards response.Serves as an educational resource for all county emergency service groups.Keep current with trends in industry, research, and new technologies for all hazards response.Updates the standard operating procedures in coordination with other team members.Serves as liaison with regional response groups.Performs all other assigned tasks.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Current Class B Texas driver's license.Experience with business development, media relations, disaster/recovery/relief response preferred.
