What are the responsibilities and job description for the Millwork Manager position at Hay Runner?
We’re looking for an experienced Millwork & Woodshop Manager to lead our in-house millwork division and help us deliver beautiful, high-quality custom work across our construction and design projects. This is a leadership role for someone who cares deeply about craftsmanship, people, and process.
What You’ll Do
- Lead daily operations of the millwork and woodshop team
- Manage schedules, workflow, quality control, and resources
- Mentor and support a team of skilled woodworkers
- Collaborate with construction, design, sales, estimating, and project management
- Support accurate estimating, pricing, and scheduling of millwork
- Ensure millwork is delivered on time and to spec
- Uphold high standards for craftsmanship and finish quality
- Improve systems for drawings, approvals, production tracking, and shop communication
- Control costs, reduce waste, and improve efficiency
- Build strong relationships with vendors and specialty suppliers
What We’re Looking For
- 10 years in custom millwork, cabinetry, or architectural woodworking
- Proven experience leading a woodshop or production team
- Deep knowledge of materials, production methods, and finish standards
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to balance quality, timeline, and budget
- Comfortable working with architectural drawings
- Experience with CAD/CAM and modern shop machinery is a plus
