Job Overview
Hay Runner is seeking a thoughtful, creative, and highly organized Interior Designer to help shape exceptional residential and commercial spaces from concept through completion. As part of the Hay Runner team, you will work closely with clients, architects, project managers, and field teams to develop cohesive interior experiences that reflect our commitment to quality craftsmanship, intentional design, and elevated living. Your creativity, technical expertise, and attention to detail will play a key role in bringing our projects to life.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive interior design concepts aligned with client goals, project scope, budget, and overall architectural vision.
- Create floor plans, elevations, finish schedules, and 3D renderings using industry-standard design software.
- Collaborate closely with clients, architects, builders, vendors, and internal project teams throughout all phases of design and construction.
- Select and specify materials, furnishings, fixtures, lighting, and finishes that support both aesthetics and functionality.
- Prepare detailed drawing sets, presentations, mood boards, and construction documentation.
- Coordinate with the preconstruction and field teams to ensure design intent is executed accurately during construction.
- Conduct site visits to review project progress, address field conditions, and assist with problem-solving as needed.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining organization, communication, and timeline expectations.
- Stay current on design trends, materials, and products while contributing fresh ideas and creative solutions to the Hay Runner design process.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and Bluebeam.
- Experience with additional rendering or modeling software such as Rhino or 3ds Max is a plus.
- Strong understanding of interior design principles, space planning, color theory, lighting design, and material selection.
- Knowledge of construction documentation, renovation processes, and residential and/or commercial construction practices.
- Strong drafting and technical communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to confidently guide clients through design decisions.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, consultants, and vendors throughout the construction process.
- Passion for thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and creating spaces that feel intentional and lasting.
