What are the responsibilities and job description for the MBA Strategy & Growth Intern position at Haven Headache & Migraine Center?
Haven is building the future of migraine care for the 40 million Americans who suffer from this debilitating neurological condition. Backed by Runa Capital, Precursor Ventures, and 1843 Capital, we are transforming how migraine is treated through a combination of telemedicine, AI-enabled monitoring, and personalized care plans. Our early results speak for themselves: our initial patient cohort is seeing a 70% improvement rate, with days impacted by headache reduced by half.
What This Role Is For
We are growing fast and evaluating how to expand Haven’s reach and impact. This MBA internship sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, and execution. You will work directly with the founding team on a high-priority growth initiative that requires structured thinking, disciplined project management, and the ability to synthesize complex information quickly.
This is not a research-only role. You will produce work that the leadership team uses to make real decisions. You will move between strategic analysis and ground-level execution, often in the same week.
What You Will Own
What Haven Offers
Diversity is built into our DNA with a founding team representing POC, female, disabled, and LGBTQ founders. We strongly encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply - many successful candidates may not meet every requirement. Studies show underrepresented candidates often only apply when meeting 100% of qualifications; we'd love to hear from you even if you don't check every box.
Haven Headache and Migraine Center is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All aspects of employment, including hiring, promotion, discipline, and termination are based solely on merit, performance, and business needs. We do not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected status.
Location information:
We are based in downtown San Francisco and value in-person collaboration. Our team values a hybrid model for our SF office and this team member, with preference for candidates to be in the bay area.

What You Will Own
- Market and operational analysis: You will research and evaluate growth opportunities, including assessing new markets, care delivery models, and potential partners. You will build frameworks that help the leadership team compare options and make decisions with confidence.
- Due diligence support: You will gather, organize, and synthesize information across financial, operational, regulatory, and clinical dimensions. You will build diligence trackers, document findings, and surface the questions that need answers before a decision can move forward.
- Project and process management: You will manage workstreams with multiple stakeholders and moving parts. You will track open items, own timelines, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. You will know where every workstream stands and flag risks before they become problems.
- Stakeholder communication: You will prepare materials for internal and external audiences, including memos, briefings, and structured summaries. You will communicate clearly across functions and adapt your output to what each audience needs.
- Cross-functional coordination: You will work across clinical, operations, finance, and legal work streams. You will not own each of those domains, but you will be the connective tissue that keeps them moving together.
- Currently enrolled in an MBA program, ideally with prior experience in consulting, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or healthcare strategy.
- At least 2 years of work experience prior to MBA enrollment.
- Strong analytical skills. You can build a financial model, size a market, and pressure-test assumptions without hand-holding.
- Demonstrated project management ability. You have managed complex workstreams with multiple stakeholders and competing timelines.
- Clear written communication. Your memos and summaries are precise, structured, and easy to act on.
- Comfort with ambiguity. We are an early-stage company. You will not always have a clear brief. You will need to figure out the right question before you can answer it.
- AI fluency. You already use AI tools to work faster and think more clearly. We will ask you to show us how.
What Haven Offers
- Direct access to the founding team and exposure to executive-level decision-making.
- Work that matters. You will see your output shape real decisions at a company with a mission worth caring about.
- A lean, high-trust team where your contributions are visible and valued.
- Competitive paid internship compensation.
- A hybrid work environment with time in our San Francisco office and flexibility to work remotely.
