Position: Overnight Shelter Staff
Position is full-time 2-3 shifts per week. Position is Second shift through overnight and every weekend.
Description: The Overnight Shelter Staff is a collaborative supporter and a member of Have Mercy’s Team with the objective to support the mission of Have Mercy and the clients served by assisting them with their needs while establishing and maintaining an environment that is consistent with agency values.
Essential Functions: include but are not limited to. . .
· Monitor the activities of clients to ensure overall safety of clients, volunteers, and staff
· Provide immediate and professional response to any security concern, medical emergency, safety emergency or disturbance within or outside the facility.
· Mediate client conflicts to a satisfactory conclusion
· Complete agency logs and incident reports in a timely manner
· Oversee client medication disbursement
· Provide consistent coverage for assigned shifts, working within the team and independently to complete all shift tasks.
· Maintain order and assist in keeping all areas clean and free of safety hazards
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Past experience in Human Services, group homes, corrections, law enforcement or working with mental illness/substance abuse is preferred
- Ability to maintain clear personal and professional boundaries
- Ability to demonstrate compassion, sensitivity, and to respect the privacy and special needs of our clients
- Must maintain a high regard for confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment
- Ability to respond confidently in emergency and crisis situations
- Ability to multi-task in an occasional fast-paced environment
- Must possess a high degree of common sense and be prompt and dependable
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
- Pass a criminal background check
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Occasional local driving may be required
- Ability to lift 25 lbs, climb stairs, sit, stand, bend, reach
- A smiling face and good attitude are required.
Start Salary Range: The pay is $125 per shift
