Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is the engineering, design, and pricing of steel structures available under the Icon Shelter brands.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Promotes the Company’s mission and values-based culture through positive client communications, cost-effecting engineering designs, and engineering support.
  2. Develops engineering calculations for standard and custom shelter projects.
  3. Reviews engineered drawings and preliminary designs.
  4. Coordinates with the drafting team to ensure drawings match engineering calculations and local building code requirements.
  5. Creates and modifies project-specific calculation spreadsheets for steel structures.
  6. Designs simple concrete foundations.
  7. Supports the inside sales team and external customers with design and engineering consultations.
  8. Advises the installation support team in addressing installation-related questions and conflicts.
  9. Participates in departmental and company strategic initiatives.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university required.
  • 0-10 years experience in civil engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
  • P.E. license or ability to obtain within 2 years.


Travel:

  • This position requires minimal to no travel


Computer Skills:

  • Familiarity with RISA 3D, SAP 2000, or other structural analysis software preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated proficiency with 2D or 3D AutoCAD preferred


Other Requirements:

  • Familiarity with ASCE 7, AISC 360, and ACI 318 codes preferred
  • Familiarity with International Building Code.


Other Skills:

  • Ability and willingness to learn and apply new knowledge for structural steel design.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and product development techniques and processes.
  • Originality and judgment in the independent evaluation of new applications and products.
  • Familiarity with major building codes in the United States and their applications.
