Position Overview
Our client, a leading retail organization, is seeking an experienced EDI Software Engineer to join their technology team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in EDI standards, software engineering best practices, and middleware integrations, along with proven experience designing and delivering large-scale, high-quality systems. This is a hands-on, technical leadership role that requires the ability to think strategically while delivering reliable, scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain EDI solutions using IBM Sterling B2Bi.
Configure, monitor, and optimize EDI systems to ensure seamless partner communication and compliance with industry standards.
Design and support large-scale, high-quality software and automation systems, ensuring code reusability and extensibility.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate middleware solutions (e.g., IBM MQ, APIGEE, Kafka) into EDI workflows.
Manage secure data transmissions using protocols such as AS2 and SFTP.
Work with EDI formats and translators, including ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XPath, BPML, XSLT, and XML Schemas.
Support cloud, middleware, servers, storage, and database integration as needed.
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline design and infrastructure automation efforts.
Follow ITSM and change management processes to ensure compliance and governance.
Mentor and support junior team members while contributing at both tactical and strategic levels.
Required Qualifications
5 years of hands-on experience in software or infrastructure development.
Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale, high-quality systems.
Strong expertise in EDI standards and compliance.
Proficiency with IBM Sterling B2Bi for data exchange design, configuration, and maintenance.
Solid understanding of object-oriented principles, design patterns, unit testing, and code reusability.
Experience with communication protocols (AS2, SFTP) and IBM DataPower appliance.
Strong background in middleware integrations (IBM MQ, APIGEE, Kafka).
Proficiency in Java or another programming language.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation tools.
Strong knowledge of network and security architecture.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the retail domain or working with large enterprise clients.
Exposure to cloud-based integrations.
Experience mentoring or leading small technical teams.
