Job Overview
Join our team and help build high-quality concrete and masonry projects throughout New Mexico. As a Laborer/ Equpiment Operator, you will perform a variety of hands-on tasks that support all phases of construction, from site preparation to project completion. The ideal candidate will have equipment operating experience, a strong work ethic, and the ability to travel to project sites throughout the state. Concrete construction experience is a plus, and a CDL is preferred.
- Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver's license prior to employment.
- CDL preferred
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Position requires approximately 50% travel throughout New Mexico, including occasional overnight travel.
- Applicants must have reliable transportation.
Essential Functions
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in concrete and masonry construction projects; perform manual work in preparing surfaces for concrete.
- Shovel concrete into construction areas.
- Fine grade fill to grades given by the Foreman.
- Assist with setting forms and wall panel forms.
- Operate construction equipment safely and efficiently, including skid steers, loaders, rollers, and other equipment as assigned.
- Maintain a clean job site by picking up tools and equipment and securing the site each day to eliminate potential hazards and theft.
- Material handling and storage.
- Load and unload trucks; haul and hoist materials.
- Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman or Safety Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in concrete and masonry construction.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedules.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
- Ability to understand, follow, and communicate written and oral instructions.
- Ability to maintain dependable attendance and work performance.
Education, Training and Experience
- Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
- Willingness and ability to perform manual labor following verbal and written instructions.
- Previous equipment operating experience is required.
- Concrete construction experience is a plus.
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is preferred but not required.
- Experience working on construction, roadway, site development, or concrete projects is preferred.
Work Context
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, and concrete exposure.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry objects and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
- Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
- Noise level is generally loud.
- Must be able to move quickly and safely around active construction sites.
- Excellent stamina is required.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
