SUMMARY: The High School Administrative Assistant supports the Principals by managing correspondence, maintaining student records, coordinating events, processing purchase orders, assisting with building budgets, and serving as the primary administrative contact for students, parents, and staff regarding building matters.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent educational experience
- Minimum of 2 years administrative support experience with demonstrated proficiency in:
- Document preparation and management
- Record keeping and filing systems
- Database management and office technology applications
- Strong written communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and proofreading
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with appropriate discretion
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with diverse stakeholders including students, staff, and parents
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining self-direction
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an educational environment
- Advanced proficiency in school-specific software systems
- Demonstrated excellence in external communications and public relations
- Experience with budget tracking and financial record-keeping procedures
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage confidential correspondence, reports, and documents for administration
- Maintain comprehensive records, including student data, medical information, attendance, and correspondence
- Maintain daily attendance data for reported absences and tardies
- Compile daily attendance reports and assist with count day requirements
- Coordinate and provide administrative support for events and operations
- Serve as a primary administrative contact for inquiries from students, parents, and staff
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the school administration
Terms of Employment
Full-time, Non-Exempt, 194 days per year
Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week (7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.)
Compensation/Benefits According to Haslett Educational Secretaries Association Agreement
