Harrington Restaurant Supply is seeking a skilled and reliable Restaurant Equipment Service Technician to join our team in Butte, Montana. This is a full-time, field-based position ideal for a hands-on professional who takes pride in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment. Our technicians play a critical role in keeping our customers' operations running smoothly, and we are looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and strong customer service skills to the role.
In this position, you will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of commercial foodservice equipment including gas and electric broilers, Broasters, ovens, ranges, grills, fryers, steamers, dishwashers, and refrigeration systems such as walk-in coolers and freezers. In addition to repair work, you will perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment lifespan and reduce downtime for our customers. You will also be responsible for installing new equipment, ensuring proper setup, calibration, and safe operation.
This role requires the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, along with testing equipment to confirm functionality and compliance. You will identify and order necessary parts, maintain accurate service records, and communicate clearly with customers regarding service timelines, issues, and maintenance recommendations. The majority of this work is performed in the field, with travel required throughout Montana, including occasional overnight stays.
The work environment involves servicing commercial kitchens where you may encounter heat, grease, tight spaces, and physically demanding conditions. A flexible schedule is important, as this role may include overtime, weekend work, and participation in an on-call rotation for emergency service calls.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience repairing commercial restaurant equipment. Strong knowledge of gas systems, electrical controls, and refrigeration principles is essential, and EPA certification is preferred. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to work independently in the field. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, frequent bending and standing, and working in hot environments.
Preferred qualifications include CFESA certification, EPA 608 certification, and manufacturer-specific training on both hot-side and cold-side equipment.
