Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced operations leader to oversee mission-critical data center campus operations and customer experience across multiple facilities. This individual will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations, ensuring operational excellence, maintaining customer satisfaction, and managing technical teams within a highly critical environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing critical MEP infrastructure, leading technical operations teams, and supporting hyperscale and/or multi-tenant data center environments. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of driving operational performance, maintaining uptime standards, and fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability, and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Lead local campus resources in delivering high-quality operations management and customer support.
- Support execution of strategic operational initiatives across the organization.
- Oversee site start-up activities through transition into steady-state operations, including functional leadership of site teams and associated billing controls.
- Maintain audit-ready facilities and promote exceptional customer service standards.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching to Site Managers and facility operations staff.
- Ensure timely completion of operational activities including site rounds, readings, vendor management, and customer ticket resolution.
- Serve as the primary operational interface for customers regarding site operations, escalations, facility events, and ongoing relationship management.
- Partner with internal teams during customer onboarding and deployment activities.
- Support facility tours for prospective customers and investors.
- Monitor and report on operational KPIs and service delivery metrics.
- Assist in developing and implementing operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure full compliance with all customer SLAs, including uptime and operational performance requirements.
- Lead and support operational teams across the campus environment.
- Drive operational consistency and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Foster a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and customer service.
- Conduct regular meetings with site leadership and front-line staff to address operational priorities and cross-functional challenges.
- Identify training and development needs for new and existing team members.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to support operational requirements.
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and workforce planning activities.
- Evaluate team performance and provide coaching and development feedback.
- Coordinate with outsourced service providers regarding staffing performance and disciplinary matters when necessary.
- Travel between facilities on an as-needed basis to support operational requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience within data center, mission-critical, or critical infrastructure operations environments.
- Strong expertise operating and maintaining critical MEP infrastructure, including UPS systems, emergency generators, critical cooling systems, CRAC/CRAH units, and electrical distribution systems.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure redundancy configurations and associated operational limitations.
- Experience managing operations within multi-tenant and/or hyperscale data center environments.
