Happy Hands is a nonprofit, 501(c)3, Christian education and therapy center for children ages birth through elementary school who are deaf or hard of hearing. Our mission is to empower children who are deaf and hard of hearing to flourish through educating the child, nurturing the family and building hope. We are committed to never turning away a child because of the families’ inability to pay. With nearly 85% of our families lower-income Happy Hands provides scholarships and tuition assistance. Happy Hands is an award-winning, accredited and DHS licensed facility and is now in its 32nd year of operation and ministry.
Position Summary:
The Development Director will develop and coordinate strategies which will achieve successful results in fund-raising, coordination of grants, and community relations. This position will work closely as a team with the Executive Director and Development department. The goal is to grow a donor-driven fund-raising program and provide the financial support necessary for Happy Hands to continue offering quality services to children who are deaf, hard of hearing or other special needs.
Responsibilities:
· Development and Fundraising
· Donor Cultivation – responsible for increasing donor base
o Identify potential donors and cultivate long-term relationships
o Research and identify new markets to develop donors
o Establish and nurture community relations
o Major donor relationship building
· Fundraising Events – work with the Communications and Events Coordinator to plan and coordinate events
· Oversee and/or execute grant proposals
· Oversee and/or maintain donor management database
· Monitor fundraising budgets
· Assist Executive Director in establishing short and long term fundraising goals
· Board Meeting reports and attendance as requested
· Participate in strategic planning
Requirements:
· Strong communication and leadership skills
· Ability to speak publicly and develop relationships easily
· Prefer a degree in marketing, public relations, business communications, non-profit management, or a related field
· Prefer experience in fundraising and donor relations
· Must be committed to a church where Jesus Christ is taught to be the eternal Son of God and must sign a statement of faith and lifestyle commitment
