Compensation: $150,000-200,000
Position Overview:
SAA is seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Facilities to lead the engineering and maintenance operations across our Brooklyn properties: New Hotel at 25 Stewart (primary base), SAA-154 Scott Members Club, Event Venues 99 Scott, and 53 Scott. This leadership role is centered on delivering exceptional support to a high-end boutique hotel environment while maintaining operational excellence across all physical assets.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in hotel engineering and facilities management, with a proven ability to collaborate seamlessly across departments such as Front Office, Housekeeping, and Concierge. This individual will also manage daily security operations, ensuring safety, guest satisfaction, and compliance throughout our properties.
Key Responsibilities:
Hotel Engineering & Operations Management:
- Oversee the engineering department at SAA 154 and The Hotel at 25 Stewart, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety.
- Lead and execute a proactive preventative maintenance program tailored to the unique needs of a luxury hospitality environment.
- Ensure all guest-facing areas are maintained to the highest standards of functionality and appearance.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from hotel departments and guests, prioritizing service quality and minimal disruption.
- Manage building certifications, code compliance, and local law adherence (LL87, LL84, LL11, etc.).
- Lead energy management initiatives and sustainability strategies across all facilities.
Interdepartmental Collaboration:
- Act as a central facilities liaison for hotel leadership, including General Manager, Housekeeping, Front Office, and Concierge teams.
- Foster strong communication and service-oriented relationships with all departments to support a seamless guest experience.
- Participate in hotel leadership meetings and contribute to property-wide planning, guest service goals, and operational improvements.
Security & Safety Oversight:
- Manage day-to-day security operations across all properties, including security staffing, incident response protocols, and surveillance systems.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, implement emergency procedures, and lead fire/life safety training and compliance.
- Maintain strong documentation and reporting standards for safety-related issues, ensuring prompt follow-up and resolution.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise a multidisciplinary team of engineers, maintenance staff, and security personnel.
- Build a high-performing, service-driven team culture through coaching, clear expectations, and continuous training.
- Develop team schedules, conduct performance reviews, and ensure proper coverage across shifts and events.
Administrative & Project Responsibilities:
- Maintain facilities documentation including maintenance logs, service contracts, inspections, and compliance records.
- Oversee vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and supervise capital improvement projects.
- Manage department budgets, forecast needs, control costs, and approve expenditures.
- Coordinate with events and production teams to support venue setups and client needs, particularly at 99 Scott and 53 Scott.
Required Qualifications:
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in hotel engineering or facilities management, including 3 years in a leadership role within a high-end hotel environment.
- Demonstrated success in managing engineering operations that directly support luxury guest service standards.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, BMS, fire safety, etc.).
- Experience collaborating with hotel operations teams (Housekeeping, Front Desk, F&B, Concierge) to resolve facilities needs quickly and professionally.
- Familiarity with local laws and regulations, including DOB, FDNY, OSHA, and DOH compliance.
- Proven ability to manage onsite security operations, incident response, and risk mitigation.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
- Experience in hospitality-focused properties with a boutique or lifestyle hotel emphasis.
- Knowledge of BMS and work order management systems.
- Experience with capital project planning and renovation oversight.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

The base pay range for this position is a salary range of $150,000 - $200,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
