Position Overview:
Hanwha Defense USA is seeking a Strategy Analyst to lead and support critical initiatives that shape the future direction of the company’s comprehensive defense portfolio. This high-impact role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the U.S. defense ecosystem, strong analytical skills, and the ability to influence executive-level decision making.
The Strategy Analyst will work across functional teams to develop business strategies, evaluate market opportunities, support M&A assessments, and provide strategic guidance to leadership. This role will also serve as a key planning partner to the President and CEO of Hanwha Defense USA and play an essential role in enabling internal alignment across Hanwha’s U.S. and global affiliates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and refinement of corporate and business unit strategies across core defense domains, including land and naval systems
- Drive in-depth market and competitive analysis focused on Department of Defense programs, funding priorities, acquisition timelines, and legislative impacts
- Monitor and interpret key budgetary documents including POM, FYDP, NDAA, and the President’s Budget, translating insights into actionable strategy
- Develop high-quality strategic deliverables including business cases, white papers, market entry analyses, and executive briefings
- Partner with Business Development and Engineering teams to shape and prioritize the company’s opportunity pipeline
- Support or lead evaluation of M&A targets, partnerships, and joint ventures through financial modeling, benchmarking, and synergy analysis
- Facilitate long-range planning processes and internal strategy workshops to align priorities across business functions
- Act as a key interface between Hanwha Defense USA and its U.S.-based affiliates as well as the South Korea headquarters
- Provide direct strategic planning support to the President and CEO of Hanwha Defense USA, including development of internal governance processes, executive-level presentations, and cross-functional coordination
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Understanding of the U.S. defense acquisition environment, including DoD planning, budgeting, and procurement cycles
- Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects independently and drive cross-functional collaboration
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and other analytical tools
Preferred:
- Prior experience supporting or working with DoD agencies or major defense contractors
- Familiarity with major U.S. defense platforms and service modernization priorities
- Experience working in multinational teams or supporting global strategy initiatives
- Korean language skills or cultural fluency are a plus
- Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one strongly preferred
Education/Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Business, International Relations, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in strategy, corporate development, management consulting, or business analysis, preferably in defense, aerospace, or government sectors
- Masters degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Strategic Studies, or related discipline preferred.
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Experience working at a federal contractor or in aerospace/defense industry preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to prioritize / meet multiple competing deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural team environment and support internal customers
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Salary : $75,000 - $125,000
