Sr Vice President, Business Development – Shipbuilding will lead new business opportunities and manage customer relationships among maritime business stakeholders. This position will lead maritime affiliated Business Development personnel to reach the organization’s tactical and strategic growth objectives in the maritime market. This individual will identify, qualify, and lead pursuits for maritime program opportunities. In addition, this individual will plan and recommend BD and marketing strategies to achieve maximum customer and market penetration and to drive tactical and strategic growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promotes the company, its maritime capabilities and commitment to expanding US maritime capacity in line with company strategy and policies.
- Contributes to the development of the Shipbuilding Business Unit’s strategic plan, continually assessing progress, evaluating external factors and providing recommendations for adjustments.
- Creates and maintains strong relationships among current and future customers (Navy, USCG, MARAD, etc), industry counterparts, and other Hanwha affiliates.
- Grows the opportunity pipeline through diligent and timely identification / qualification of new business opportunities, including pre-RFP development activities.
- Regularly communicates with leadership regarding all aspects of HDUSA’s business development and customer relations. Responds timely to follow on tasking.
- Leads the capture strategy for programs approved for pursuit.
- Evaluates potential M&A opportunities and supports respective pursuits.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications/ Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of relevant Business Development experience
- Strong understanding of US Naval landscape
- Experience with US DoD acquisition process
- Well-plugged into current Naval campaigns and related stakeholders
- Experience building and maintaining relationships
- Must be able to obtain a secret level security clearance
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering or related field
- Relevant Military Experience
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and/or requirements
- Excellent business acumen
- Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural team environment
- Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze data and present in a clear manner
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to travel domestically (est 25%) and internationally (est 10%) required.
