Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to produce precision components. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, and mechanical principles to ensure high-quality production standards. The CNC Machinist will play a vital role in maintaining efficient manufacturing operations and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC machines including CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily using Fanuc controls.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications to produce accurate parts.
- Utilize CAD/CAM software For programming tools for toolpath development.
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment to minimize downtime.
- Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for machining operations while ensuring proper tool wear management.
- Follow safety protocols including the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and forklift operation when necessary.
- Assist in assembly processes and support lean manufacturing initiatives to optimize workflow efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation of machine setups, production runs, and quality checks.
Requirements
- Proven experience with CNC programming and operation on CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawing interpretation.
- Proficiency in CAD software and general CAM programming skills.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills for precise measurements and calculations.
- Experience with machining tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Knowledge of Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems.
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, tooling equipment, forklifts, and other manufacturing machinery safely.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction in production processes.
