STEM Teacher

The STEM School is a 9-12 magnet school located in Chattanooga, TN, on the campus of Chattanooga State Community College. Our school is based on three tenets: collaboration, critical thinking, and innovation. We embed these tenets daily into our work at the student, teacher, and administrator levels. We consistently innovate and re-imagine the school experience for students. We are the only school in the state with a perfect score on the Tennessee STEM Designation, which is reflective of our consistent desire to challenge the status quo.

We are looking for teachers who have been successful in a traditional school setting but realize that school can be so much more. Instead of wanting to be the best teacher on the hall, our teachers want to be part of a team to create the best experiences for our students. 

This STEM position is ideal for someone passionate about working with students on hands-on engineering projects and who has a strong interest in coding and technology integration.

1. Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Tennessee Science Standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson.  Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently engage students with science and engineering practices (SEPs).  Follow Hamilton County Schools’ instructional framework, including:

2. Classroom Culture: Build a safe and productive classroom culture.  Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset. 
3. Family & Community:  Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.  Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning. 
4. Professional Responsibilities: Actively participates in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues in order to improve teaching and student learning.  Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

• Teaching candidate must hold a valid state of Tennessee teaching certification in 6-12 Science or be an an upcoming graduate in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Tennessee teaching license. 
• Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree.

Compensation

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.

Salary Scale
