Job Summary Dalton State College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Engineering beginning August 1, 2026. This position also holds the Shaw Industries Chair in STEM, which provides reduced teaching expectations, an annual salary stipend, and program development funds to advance excellence in engineering education and community engagement.

Dalton State seeks an innovative and student-centered engineer to help shape the future of its growing Engineering Technology program. The successful candidate will bring both technical expertise and a strong commitment to applied learning, student mentorship, and program leadership.

As the Shaw Industries Chair in STEM, the faculty member will play a key role in:

  • Pursuing ABET accreditation for the Engineering Technology program
  • Advising the Engineering Club and mentoring students in design projects and competitions
  • Building partnerships with regional industry and community organizations
  • Collaborating with faculty in physics, chemistry, and related disciplines to expand undergraduate research and experiential learning opportunities

Teaching responsibilities total 16 credit hours per academic year and may include courses in industrial, mechanical, electronic, manufacturing, or mechatronics engineering.

Dalton States Engineering Technology program offers students a strong foundation in applied engineering principles, problem-solving, and innovation. The program emphasizes project-based learning, industry collaboration, and interdisciplinary engagement, preparing graduates for careers in manufacturing, design, and technical management across Northwest Georgia's advanced manufacturing sector.

Minimum Starting Salary

$60,500 plus STEM Chair Stipend

Salary commensurate with education level and experience. Individuals with a masters degree as the highest level of education will have a 10% decrease in starting pay in a tenure track position.   • Teach courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Academic advising and mentoring students.
  • Participate in service activities in the department, college, community, and other appropriate activities related to the field of expertise.
  • Engage students in undergraduate research projects.

Educational Requirements

Applicants must hold an earned masters degree from an accredited with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching discipline.
