The Position
We're looking for a Health Information Assistant who strives to provide operational excellence and genuine care in a team environment. Our Health Information Management (HIM) Department is primarily responsible for:
- Patient health records and ensure that needed health information is complete, accurate and available to legitimate users.
- Provides ICD-10 codes on admission and concurrently as required.
- Prepares release of information documents, including but not limited to audit, patient and subpoena requests.
- Conduct medical record audits.
- Protect patient privacy, provide information security, comply with standards and regulations regarding health information and administer health information computer systems.
- Creates templates and forms needed by neighborhood nurses to track resident or other neighborhood specific issues.
- Minimum of 1 year in health information experience, in any healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and medical terminology.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred, but not required.
