Position Purpose
Build and preserve homes for families in need of a decent place to live.
As a Construction Intern, you will assist in building and repairing homes while upholding Habitat’s standards of partnership, quality, safety, and teamwork. You will gain real-world construction experience while working alongside staff, volunteers, and homeowners.
This is a full-time, paid summer internship earning $17.75 per hour. The internship term will not exceed 90 days and is not eligible for benefits.

What You’ll Do
Interns assist in one or more of the following:
- Repairing owner-occupied homes through the Habitat Home Repair Program
- Building new Habitat homes
- Rehabbing homes for sale to Habitat homeowners
- Supporting green building initiatives integrated into our construction programs
- Work alongside and help guide volunteers on construction tasks
- Foster positive relationships with homeowners and volunteers
- Follow Habitat Charlotte Region’s Approved Methods Construction Manual
- Maintain tools and equipment as assigned
- Complete assigned tasks on time and prioritize team goals

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This role requires working outdoors on active construction sites in all types of weather.
You must be able to:
- Pass a comprehensive drug screening
- Climb ladders and scaffolding
- Navigate uneven ground
- Stand most or all of the day
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work in attics and crawlspaces
