Habitat Charlotte is seeking a dedicated Backroom Supervisor to ensure smooth store operations, accurate merchandising, and a safe, welcoming environment for employees, volunteers, and customers. This key-holding supervisory role supports store leadership in managing donations, inventory, and day-to-day operations that keep the ReStore running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, accurately ticket, and safely move merchandise to the sales floor in a timely manner
- Collaborate with store leadership on priorities, timing, and placement of incoming donations
- Supervise donation drivers during loading/unloading activities
- Ensure safe handling of merchandise according to policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient store environment
- Independently open and close the store and perform cash handling procedures
- Operate the cash register as needed and complete accurate reports and end-of-day documentation
- Provide constructive feedback, encouragement, and motivation to staff, volunteers, and team members
- Demonstrate a positive, respectful, and professional attitude with all customers, donors, volunteers, and staff
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced retail environment
- Experience with inventory, merchandising, or supervisory responsibilities is a plus
- Commitment to excellent customer service and a mission-driven workplace
Education/Skills:
- Basic computer skills
- Basic math or POS experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Management and Customer Service experience
- Show initiative
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to move merchandise throughout the store
- Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50lbs. without assistance
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, Saturdays, and periodic holidays
- Ability to obtain Forklift Certification and operate a forklift on a regular basis
- Ability to climb steps to Forklift cab
