What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial HVAC Chiller Technician position at H & G Systems?
Commercial HVAC Chiller Technician (Centrifugal / Industrial)
Location: Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
Job Type: Full-Time | Year-Round Work
Work on Large-Scale Equipment, Not Residential Changeouts
H&G Systems has been a trusted name in mechanical contracting since 1968, delivering high-level service across commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities throughout the Dallas area. From hospitals and data centers to manufacturing plants and large-scale facilities, our work is focused on complex systems where technical skill actually matters.
We are looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC Chiller Technician who specializes in centrifugal chillers and large tonnage equipment. If you enjoy troubleshooting complex systems, working independently in the field, and being the go-to expert on critical equipment, this is a strong long-term opportunity.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will diagnose, service, and maintain centrifugal chillers and related HVAC systems across commercial and industrial facilities. Your day will involve troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance and overhauls, and supporting start-ups and commissioning of equipment. You will work with schematics, wiring diagrams, and control systems to identify issues and restore performance, while communicating directly with project managers, engineers, and customers on system status and recommendations. This is a field-based role where you'll manage your own service calls and take ownership of high-value, mission-critical equipment.
What We Offer
• Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour, depending on experience
• Take-home vehicle (dispatched from home)
• Uniforms provided
• 401(k) with 6% company match
• Medical coverage (90% employee paid)
• Dental and vision insurance
• Paid time off (PTO)
• 8 paid holidays
Why Work With Us
• Work on large commercial and industrial systems, not residential service
• Consistent, year-round work with a stable company
• High-level technical environment with complex equipment
• Access to ABC training facility / CEF Construction Education Foundation
• Tuition and book reimbursement for continued education
• Ongoing leadership and technical development opportunities
• Team culture built on respect, accountability, and craftsmanship
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a technician with at least 5 years of experience working on centrifugal chillers or large commercial HVAC systems (York, Trane, Carrier, Daikin, or similar). You should have a strong understanding of refrigerant systems, controls, and compressor operation, along with solid electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Experience with start-ups, commissioning, and performance testing is highly valued. EPA 608 Universal Certification and TDLR are required, and OEM factory training is a strong plus. You should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple service calls, and using basic digital tools for documentation. A valid driver's license and insurable driving record are required.
Salary : $45 - $55
