Position Overview:
The Account Director will serve as a senior leader overseeing multiple client groups and ensuring strategic alignment across all programs. This individual will guide the development of integrated communications strategies, drive operational excellence, and serve as a key bridge between account management, media relations, creative, and digital teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
● Serve as the primary strategic advisor and owner for assigned client accounts, ensuring all work aligns with business objectives and reputation goals.
● Develop and guide integrated communications strategies across media relations, digital, creative, and community engagement.
● Proactively surface insights, risks, and recommendations to clients and internal leadership.
● Connect insights and strategies across accounts to drive cohesive and effective solutions.
● Anticipate client needs and industry shifts, providing proactive recommendations and innovative approaches.
● Guide message development and positioning to ensure consistent, credible, and effective communication across audiences and platforms.
Team Mentorship & Development
● Lead and mentor team members with clarity, accountability, and forward momentum
● Set expectations for quality, ownership, and client readiness
● Foster a culture of initiative, thoughtful problem-solving, and ongoing refinement of best practices
Client Partnership
● Act as the primary point of contact for client leads and senior stakeholders, providing trusted counsel on communications strategy and execution.
● Maintain a deep understanding of client objectives and ensure alignment across all deliverables.
● Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through new initiatives or strategic recommendations.
Crisis & Reputation Management
● Lead and support clients through sensitive or high-stakes situations, providing expert guidance and rapid response planning.
● Develop and implement crisis communication strategies that protect reputation, manage media scrutiny, and maintain stakeholder confidence.
● Collaborate with agency leadership to prepare and train clients for potential issues, including scenario planning and media coaching.
Operational Management
● Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure high-quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery.
● Partner with agency leadership to manage workload, staffing, and prioritization across client programs.
Drive proactive planning rhythms that reduce rework and last-minute escalations.
● Ensure consistent communication and collaboration across all internal teams and disciplines.
Agency Integration
● Help unify agency efforts across PR, media relations, creative, and digital functions.
● Strengthen internal processes that promote visibility, coordination, and efficiency across programs.
● Contribute to the ongoing evolution of our standards, tools, and client experience.
Qualifications:
● 6 years of experience in public relations, communications, or a related fi eld, with proven experience in a PR agency environment.
● Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing junior team members.
● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex client accounts and deliver exceptional results.
● Proven ability to lead strategy and execution with minimal oversight while maintaining high standards of quality and client confidence.
● Deep understanding of communications disciplines, including media relations, message development, community engagement, digital, and crisis management.
● Exceptional client relationship and communication skills, with strong executive presence.
● Excellent writing, presentation, and project management abilities.
● Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
