What are the responsibilities and job description for the SR. ELECTRONICS HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER (Board-Level, Instrumentation Focus) position at Gyga Force?
If you’ve actually designed board-level hardware (not just supported it) and enjoy working on real instrumentation systems—not high-volume consumer products—this role is worth a look.
Our client is a financially stable, San Francisco-based company with 40 years of history designing high-precision electronic systems for aerospace, defense, scientific, and industrial applications.
They are seeking a senior-level Hardware Design Engineer to lead board-level design and contribute at the system architecture level, while also mentoring a small engineering team.
This role is NOT a fit if your background is primarily in firmware, test/validation, or IC design without board-level ownership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design board-level analog and digital circuits (instrumentation-heavy)
- Define system requirements and drive architecture decisions
- Develop and document hardware designs end-to-end
- Work closely with embedded and FPGA teams on system integration
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
- Write design documentation and establish engineering best practices
- Participate in design reviews and guide technical direction
- Drive improvements in system performance and functionality
- Develop production test strategies and validation approaches
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- ~6 years of hands-on board-level hardware design (senior candidates encouraged)
- Strong analog (instrumentation), digital, and power design experience
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (PADS or similar)
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
BONUS (NOT REQUIRED):
- Signal processing / control systems knowledge
- FPGA exposure
- Embedded C/C experience
- RTOS / embedded Linux familiarity
- Analog/mixed-signal or data acquisition background
- Python experience
- Prior mentoring or technical leadership
INCENTIVES & BENEFITS:
- Competitive base salary
- Bi-Annual Bonus
- Full medical, dental, vision, and life coverage
- 401(k) with company contribution
