What are the responsibilities and job description for the WR Trades Supervisor position at Gwinnett County?
This position supervises and participates in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water, sewer, and stormwater systems, manages and prioritizes daily work assignments, coordinates activities through a CMMS, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with departmental standards. The position is responsible for supervising field personnel, conducting performance evaluations, completing work orders, reports, and operational records, and ensuring departmental goals and schedules are met. This position is required to be on-call for nights, holidays and weekends to assist with emergencies.
Essential Duties
- Oversees the inspection and testing of field and/or facility equipment and materials for compliance with applicable ordinances, laws, and regulations and may assess contractor performance.
- Oversee the replacement and installation of new equipment and performs labor in the construction and maintenance of public roadways, sewer, water, meters and /or storm water lines.
- Advises employees with reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications and performing complex installations and repair of equipment; supervisor may also perform these duties when necessary.
- Responds to complex questions and concerns from customers, resolves problems as they arise, and educates customers on utility operations.
- Prepares various logs, forms, and reports detailing daily crew operations.
- Assists in training personnel on proper safety precautions and ensures a safe working environment.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
- This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
The grade for this position is B31(3). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND
- Five years of related work experience, including one year of lead experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid Driver's License from state of residency
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Water Distribution and/or Wastewater Collections License
- Confined Space Certification
