Position Overview

Guzman Energy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate student to join our team as a Data Intern. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to meaningful, real-world projects that support our energy trading and customer operations. You will work alongside experienced data engineers and analysts to build and refine tools, libraries, and systems that are actively used across the organization.

Internship Duration: 8–12 weeks during Summer 2026 (May–August, depending on academic calendar)

Key Responsibilities

• Write clean, well-documented Python scripts for data processing and automation tasks
• Build and maintain Excel-based tools and plugins to support internal and customer-facing workflows
• Query and manage structured data using SQL across relational databases
• Assist in developing and maintaining cloud functions on GCP or equivalent platforms
• Collaborate with the data team to document datasets, schemas, and data dictionaries
• Participate in code reviews, stand-ups, and team planning sessions

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Quantitative Economics or a related field
• Proficiency in Python, including experience with data manipulation libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy)
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data validation, and basic VBA or add-in concepts
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently on defined tasks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git/GitHub)
• Exposure to energy markets, financial data, or utility industry concepts is a plus
• Experience with REST APIs or building data pipelines

Location & Work Environment
