We're seeking a Senior Operations Manager in Honolulu, HI to lead multi-trade construction operations for a union mechanical contractor. You will oversee project teams and project managers across plumbing, HVAC, piping, sheet metal, controls, service, and special projects, with accountability for delivery, financial performance, and field execution, working directly with executive leadership.
Impact
- Standardize how projects are delivered from buyout through closeout across the whole portfolio.
- Drive P&L results through forecasting accuracy, labor productivity, and cost control.
- Raise the bench by mentoring PMs on constructability, change management, and contract execution.
- Build the operating processes that let the business scale across islands and business units.
Responsibilities
- Direct multiple project teams and project managers with full accountability for outcomes.
- Own operational P&L: budgets, forecasts, labor planning, procurement, and margin improvement.
- Lead procurement strategy, manpower planning, and workforce utilization across projects.
- Run quality control from BIM through fabrication to field installation.
- Set the standards for risk mitigation, contract execution, and change management.
- Partner with preconstruction, estimating, and business development on pursuits and handoffs.
- Enforce the safety program and hold field leadership to it.
- Serve as a senior client partner and escalation point.
- Recruit, develop, and retain project management and field leadership.
Requirements
Must-Haves
- 10 years in mechanical contracting with progressive leadership over multi-trade operations (plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, controls, service, special projects).
- Full P&L responsibility: forecasting, budgeting, labor productivity, cost control, and profitability improvement.
- Experience leading union and non-union workforces and scaling operations across business units or markets.
- Delivery of complex commercial, healthcare, education, hospitality, federal, and industrial mechanical projects.
- Hands-on, field-present leader with advanced mechanical systems knowledge and strong negotiation skills.
- Willingness to relocate to Oahu.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in Hawaii or other island and remote-logistics markets.
- Time as a superintendent or general superintendent before moving into operations.
- Employee-owned company experience.
Compensation & Logistics
Competitive salary depending on experience. Full-time, on-site in Honolulu, HI. Relocation to Oahu required.
