Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote dignity and independence
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support medication administration and ensure adherence to prescribed care plans under supervision
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs and preferences
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning tasks and infection control practices
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s
to safely transfer individuals with mobility challenges - Provide emotional support and companionship to reduce feelings of isolation, especially for residents with dementia or autism
Requirements
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s or memory care needs
- Certifications in First Aid, CPR, HIPAA compliance, and medication administration are preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain necessary certifications is expected
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks involving residents’ transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and family members
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and dedication to providing high-quality patient care
- Experience working within care plans and supporting patients’ social work needs is advantageous
