Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; observe and report any changes or concerns
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare professionals
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks including cleaning patient areas and ensuring hygiene standards are met
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to safely transfer individuals with mobility challenges
- Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive environment for residents or clients
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that meet each individual’s unique needs
- Support patients during transitions between home and community settings or assisted living facilities
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs effectively
- Hands-on experience with medication administration and understanding of care plans is advantageous
- Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dementia, Alzheimer’s disease or memory care needs
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or hospice care experience are a plus
- Experience using mobility aids like Hoyer lifts or handling heavy lifting safely is desirable
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while following detailed care instructions
