Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the organization and delivers high-quality specimen collection services to patients. This role maintains an atmosphere of trust, ensures accurate specimen handling, and provides exceptional patient service while following strict process excellence and confidentiality standards.
The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the organization and delivers high-quality specimen collection services to patients. This role maintains an atmosphere of trust, ensures accurate specimen handling, and provides exceptional patient service while following strict process excellence and confidentiality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens for lab testing following established procedures
- Provide clear explanations to patients and maintain a calm, confident presence
- Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties
- Verify patient demographic information, labels, and signatures to ensure accuracy
- Maintain required records and documentation
- Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under supervisor direction
- Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment
- Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
- Support staffing needs including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime
- Adhere to company dress code, safety guidelines, and all policies & procedures
- Travel between multiple locations with reliable transportation
- Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and patients
- Maintain flexibility for training, scheduling, and location coverage
Required Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- Excellent phlebotomy skills
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Keyboard/data entry experience
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable)
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Experience in a Patient Service Center environment
- Customer service experience in a retail or service setting
- Medical assistant or paramedic training
- Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, NV, WA; preferred elsewhere)
