Scrum Master
Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid – 4 days onsite)
Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 months)
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Scrum Master to lead Agile delivery efforts within a growing organization undergoing Agile transformation.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in low-to-mid Agile maturity environments and can bring structure, accountability, and consistency to delivery. You will act as a servant leader—guiding teams through Agile adoption while driving measurable improvements in execution, predictability, and team performance.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience leading Scrum teams in software or IT environments, along with the ability to influence teams and stakeholders through change.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Delivery & Facilitation
- Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Ensure consistent execution of Agile practices and sprint cadences
- Drive accountability and delivery discipline across the team
Agile Coaching & Transformation
- Coach team members, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile principles and Scrum best practices
- Support Agile adoption in an environment still maturing in its Agile journey
- Reinforce Agile mindset, continuous improvement, and team ownership
Backlog & Stakeholder Alignment
- Partner closely with Product Owners to refine, prioritize, and manage the product backlog
- Ensure clear requirements, acceptance criteria, and sprint readiness
- Align stakeholders on priorities, expectations, and delivery timelines
Impediment Removal & Team Enablement
- Identify and remove blockers impacting team productivity and sprint execution
- Shield the team from external disruptions to maintain focus and delivery momentum
- Promote a collaborative and high-performing team environment
Metrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track and report Agile metrics (velocity, burndown, sprint health) to drive transparency and accountability
- Use data to identify trends and implement process improvements
- Improve delivery predictability and team efficiency over time
Process & Engineering Alignment
- Promote Agile engineering best practices including CI/CD, test-driven development, and iterative delivery
- Collaborate with leadership and other Scrum Masters to standardize Agile practices across teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM I/II), SAFe Scrum Master, PMI-ACP, or similar certification
- 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master in software development, IT, or transformation environments
- Experience leading teams through multiple Agile project lifecycles
- Strong knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and Agile scaling frameworks (e.g., SAFe)
- Hands-on experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Trello, or similar
- Proven ability to drive Agile transformation in evolving or low-maturity environments
- Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to influence without authority and operate in fast-paced environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in organizations undergoing Agile transformation
- Strong coaching mindset with the ability to balance accountability and team trust
- Data-driven approach to improving delivery performance
- Ability to speak Spanish is a strong plus
Salary : $50 - $65
