Machining Operations Manager (CNC & Tooling)Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Machining Operations Manager to lead our machining departments and oversee secondary operations. This role is a blend of technical expertise and personnel leadership, responsible for driving department efficiency, managing workflows, and providing high-level technical support for CNC setups and tool-making. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, deep knowledge of GD&T, and a proven track record in manufacturing leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Leadership: Oversee all sub-departments and machining operations; monitor utilization and drive changes to maximize productivity.
- Technical Oversight: Provide expert technical support for machine setups (CNC Milling and Lathes) and perform off-line programming.
- Tooling Management: Design, order, and organize all necessary tooling; troubleshoot tooling issues with setup technicians.
- Workflow & Planning: Coordinate daily workflows with the Director of Manufacturing and assess workload to determine overtime needs.
- Team Development: Conduct departmental training, identify personnel strengths/weaknesses, and manage disciplinary actions per company policy.
- Department Standards: Maintain high 6S standards for cleanliness and organization; approve PTO requests and manage administrative departmental duties.
Skills & Requirements
- Technical Mastery: Strong knowledge of CNC machine capabilities, materials, and basic gear inspection equipment.
- Precision: Advanced understanding and application of GD&T, geometry, and basic mathematics.
- Leadership: Ability to train others and manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical/Mechanical: Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot complex setups.
Education & Experience
- Option A: Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Technology (or related field) plus 3 years of experience.
- Option B: 10 years of machining experience with at least 2 years in secondary operations or tooling.
- Preferred: Previous supervisory or management experience is strongly preferred.
Compliance Requirements
- Export Control: Due to ITAR/EAR regulations, candidates must be a "U.S. Person" (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder, or Refugee).
Pay: $110,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
